30-Hour Famine is an event for youth grades 6-12 dedicated to learning about the causes and cures for world hunger. Youth begin fasting at 12:00pm on Friday afternoon. Over the next thirty hours, youth and adults participate in community service projects, prayer, worship services, games, and interactive learning experiences focused on world hunger. the event concludes with Eurcharist and a community feast.

Alcoholics Anonymous® is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Christ Church Bookstore carries an amazing and interesting selection of books, cards, gift items, Anglican and Catholic rosaries, CD's, candles, calendars, cookbooks, and James Avery jewelry. This is a volunteer run ministry, all proceeds benefit outreach at Christ Church. Volunteers are needed to work 2 hour shifts, M-Th from 10am-2pm.

Provides clothing and sundry items free of charge to clients referred by local school Family Resource Centers.

The Cupboard is open Saturday, 10 AM - Noon in the basement of Christ Church. Volunteers are always needed to work during this time.

Church Under the Bridge is a Christ-centered ministry advancing the gospel of evangelism, social concerns and Biblical justice. Our work is to share the hope and love of Christ with the homeless and marginally housed of the inner-city of Lexington.

Each Sunday, Church Under the Bridge comes together in downtown Lexington to love God and to love their neighbors. We begin with worship, teaching and prayer. This is followed by a powerful display of Christ's love with a free hot meal, a packed lunch bag to go and many services. Such services include medical and case management, prescriptions, bus tokens, hair stylist, and various types of clothing / personal needs.

Everyday, the Hope Center provides emergency shelter, food and clothing to homeless people, but it is much more than just a shelter. We are a comprehensive social service agency delivering a variety of programs to help people get off the street and stay off the street. We do that with the help of thousands of people in this community and beyond.

A new voice is being heard in Kentucky. It is a broad, mainsteam voice of people of faith and good will. The Interfaith Alliance of the Bluegrass promotes the positive and unifying role of religion and challenges the use of religion to promote intolerance and divide our communities.

Meals on Wheels has been serving hot meals to the elderly and shut-in for over 37 years. To be a part of this wonderful ministry, please contact Mary Preston at 859.266.2457.

We support Moveable Feast in its mission to provide nutritious home delivered meals to persons living with HIV / AIDS as well as their caregivers and children. We also host an annual picnic, Christmas dinner, and give gifts to clients. We work with care coordinators to assist with special needs for clients such as medications, warm coats. and air conditioners.

Our purpose is to help the homeless and marginally housed persons find work by providing the following services:

Volunteers or gifts are always welcome.

The Reading Camp Ministry organizes reading camps and raises money for local reading camps. Six camps are sponsored by the Diocese for third and fourth graders who are struggling in reading skills and self confidence.

The Acolyte Ministry is a support ministry that aids the congregation in getting the most spiritual benefits. Acolytes assist in very important areas of the church services. Without acolytes, the services would not be what they are now. Fourth grade to senior high are invited to join. It requires a strong commitment, but it is also fun to be part of this wonderful group.

The Altar Guild does the holy housework of the church. We have six teams who alternate weeks caring for the linens, setting up for services, and arranging flowers. We encourage participation from the congregation. Come and join us, learn more about your church and make new friends. With your help, we can establish new teams and have less work for everyone.

Congregational Care Teams rotate every ten weeks. Five to eight persons on each team send cards, flowers, food, and care to those members in need. Contact Kathy Dalton at 266-8452 if you know of a member in need, or if you would like to volunteer.

The Endowment Committee operates as oversight and a reviewer of the endowments accounts that are held at our financial institutions.   The Committee periodically meets with the fund managers to review and approve investment strategies and to get a feel for the markets, both present and future.  The committee meets twice a year.

The Finance Committee works in concert with the Parish Administrator to develop the annual operating budget for Christ Church.  The Finance Committee recommends the budget to the Vestry for their approval.

By now I am sure you have noticed the Christ Church Legacy Society membership plaques at the entrance to the new Great Hall. Some have asked “What is that?” The Legacy Society was founded in 2001. It’s members are people who have made arrangements to leave a gift or portion of their estate to Christ Church upon their death. There is no minimum and no proof required. Simply make an arrangement and sign our enrollment form.

As of November 2008 we have 96 members; that is, individuals or couples who have made an arrangement and confirmed that by signing our enrollment form. As new members join we will continue to add their names to the plaques. We are making plans for our annual Christ Church Legacy Society celebration dinner in May and we want you to be invited! All you have to do is make your gift arrangement and sign the enrollment form before the dinner event in May – you’ll be invited to attend this nice dinner event each year. It’s that simple. You will be joining with a growing list of others who are helping to assure the future of Christ Church and it’s ministries for decades and centuries to come.
