Bishop Addison Hosea's School of Religion January 31st – February 14th Led by Addison Hosea, III The “School of Religion” was developed by Bishop Addison Hosea during his 36 year ministry to teach and remind people about the faith we have chosen. Christianity is a religion that encourages examination of its beliefs, and the Bishop did this by asking questions such as: Is there anything God cannot do? Are all people by nature children of God?

The First Paul by Marcus Borg April 11th - May 20th Led by Addison Hosea, III The First Paul, by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan, is a fresh look at understanding Paul. Paul’s writings, often misunderstood, have been used to support slavery and encourage subjection to an oppressive government. However, they also acknowledge women as church leaders and reassign Caesar’s titles (Son of God, Savior of the World) to Jesus. This class will spend several weeks looking at the person second only to Jesus in importance during the birth of Christianity.
Episcopal Families 10:00am - 10:50am These classes concern issues pertaining to families of all kinds.
Parenting 101 January 10th - January 31st Led by Hendy Seelbach - Clinical Social Worker Why it’s harder being a parent today: • We no longer want our children to grow up in fear of our anger, but we now live in fear of theirs. • We know when to explain ourselves and negotiate with our children, but not when to cut off further discussion. • We are better at knowing what to buy for our children then what to deny them. • We are better at helping our children make their own decisions, but are confused about when we should make decisions for them. This year we will be exploring issues that parents have struggled with for years: anger, respect, electronic interferences and participation in family life. We will be using William Daughtery’s wonderful parenting book, Take Back Your Children. Please join us. Each class will stand on its own so you do not have to attend all classes to participate.
